NEW CEO
MORGAN HILL, Calif. – February, 7
2006 – Platte River
Systems (PRS) is pleased to announce the
appointment of Michael A. Hopwood as President
and CEO. Mr. Hopwood comes to PRS from PLX
Technology, Inc. where he was Vice President of
Worldwide Sales and Business Development.
Mr. Hopwood was with
PLX Technology for 16+ years where he held many
positions and helped bring PLX from a start-up
to a public company and finally to a leader in
the I/O interconnect space. Mr. Hopwood was
instrumental in several acquisitions while at
PLX and ran several departments including Sales,
Business Development, Information Technology,
Technical Applications, Systems Validation and
Channel Marketing. Most recently, Mr. Hopwood
was responsible for PLX’s growing leadership
position amongst its extensive customer base, in
the PCI-Express switch and bridge business. In
order to support that growth, Mr. Hopwood led
the expansion of PLX’s presence on a global
basis. He set up PLX foreign companies and
offices and staffed complete sales and support
teams in the UK, Japan, Hong Kong, China and
Taiwan. Prior to PLX, Mr. Hopwood held
various sales positions at Intel.
In 1998, while at
PLX and head of the Information Technology
group, Mr. Hopwood pioneered and led the IT
software applications team in creating the
industries first hosted CRM system dedicated to
managing the sales operations and design
activity of a semiconductor company and its
sales channels.
The main application
designers, from the team that Mr. Hopwood led,
started PRS in 2004 and developed, from scratch,
a Sales and Information Management System (SIMS)
which incorporates all of the lessons learned
from previous experiences and implemented them
on next generation database architectures. This
architecture allows flexibility and data
exchange not found in any other CRM tool and
makes it stand alone as a truly global,
multi-channel solution targeted at the
semiconductor and other similar markets. It
allows semiconductor companies and their
partners, of all sizes, to extensively expand
their reach into their specific markets and
expand their business base to thousands of
customers, while limiting their sales overhead
and managing internal resources.
